The dysfunctional and costly turmoil we have seen in Damascus city government will end.
Since we first voted to disincorporate in November 2013, another $7.7 million has been spent, on top of the tens of millions of dollars that came before. What value or services have we received for our tax dollars?
The citizens are now empowered to decide the future of their community.
This election, a simple majority standard will apply, as it has for every other election in Damascus with the exception of the November 2013 vote, when a 64% majority of voters was told they lost.
Damascus city taxes will be eliminated.
This will result in a 43% reduction of the city/county combined tax rate. A home with an assessed value of $250,000 will save approximately $560 per year. This savings would occur each and every year going forward.
Each taxpayer will receive an estimated 75-85% refund of one year's taxes
A home with an assessed value of $250,000 will receive a refund of $420 to $476, or more.

Almost 12 years later, the vast majority of Damascus has seen no urban growth, and with the lack of infrastructure, that will not change for many years.
